John Cho Inground Movie News

While the Venice Film Festival is underway in Italy, companies are already eyeing the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which is shaping up to be a busy market. That includes the new horror-thriller starring Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and American Pie star John Cho and Texas Chainsaw lead Alexandra Daddario, Inground.

The plot for the film is described as: “A recently divorced father attempts to reconnect with his young son by building a swimming pool in his backyard that they can both enjoy over the course of a long, hot summer. What begins as an exciting project turns into a terrifying nightmare.” Aaron Katz (Gemini) is set to direct the project, which was penned by screenwriter Dan Dworkin (American Horror Story).

It has been a big year for horror films, with numerous big hits like Sinners and Weapons both earning hundreds of millions at the international box office. Scott Free Productions and Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Sam Roston are signed on to produce alongside Nathan Klingher and Joshua Harris for Gramercy Park, who is financing the production.

Cameras are expected to roll in March 2026, with CAA Media Finance attached to domestic distribution and north.five.six. set to lead international representation.

This latest project builds on a dynamic year for Scott Free, which is already generating buzz for its upcoming slate. Kristen Stewart stars in The Chronology of Water, Dave Bautista headlines Trap House, and Ridley Scott directs The Dog Stars, a high-profile adaptation for 20th Century Studios.

Behind the scenes, the executive production team brings together industry veterans Michael Rothstein, Samuel Hall, and Warren Goz for north.five.six., collaborating with Mark Fasano and Ford Corbett of Gramercy Park Media.

With a strong creative team, a seasoned cast, and the backing of industry heavyweights like Scott Free and Gramercy Park, the film is poised to attract serious interest on the festival circuit and in the market.
