Miles Teller Slated to Play Michael Jackson’s Lawyer

Miles Teller has officially been cast as Michael Jackson‘s lawyer, John Branca, in a Jackson biopic set for a 2025 release, Michael.

Miles Teller is coming off of an incredibly widely seen recent performance in the box-office hit from 2022, Top Gun: Maverick. Next up for the decidedly accomplished actor: The challenging role of John Branca, the still living attorney of the now deceased King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Antoine Fuqua will be helming the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, which is set for release by Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International in April, 2025.

Teller has had a brilliant career thus far and it’s only getting better. It all started with roles in two independent movie sensations where he gave star-making performances: The Spectacular Now and Whiplash. The acclaimed gem, Whiplash, went on to receive Oscar nomination glory as a Best Picture nominee and the rest is history.

Also recently cast in the Michael Jackson-based film were this year’s Best Actor Oscar nominee, Colman Domingo, as Joe Jackson and the always dependable Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. It’s certainly an intriguing cast and immediately makes the film a potential Oscar bait project. Miles Teller, in particular, will have a lot of work to do to make his character feel authentic and Teller is certainly going to be up to the challenging task, if his passionate previous performances are any indication. By the way, Michael Jackson’s nephew. Jaafar Jackson, is playing the leading role in the upcoming picture.

Fuqua believes Teller will add much to the role Teller has been selected to play. Attorney John Branca and Michael Jackson had a relationship that survived over three decades through all of Jackson’s hardships as well as the singer’s many successes. Producer of the upcoming film, Graham King has been a fan of Teller’s ever since Teller’s juicy role in the powerfully made drama, Whiplash.

If there were any doubts as to Branca’s dedication to this hugely ambitious project, it was also revealed that Branca is, indeed, producing the biopic. Teller will have a pretty challenging job here but he should be more than up to the task of getting into character to play the role of Jackson’s lawyer.

Miles Teller has taken on many intriguing projects over the years but his memorable turn in 2013’s The Spectacular Now was surely one of his most memorable and compelling performances. It is with great anticipation that audiences await to see how he’ll do in his role in the Michael Jackson biopic. It was previously rumored that Teller would have this part in the new Jackson-inspired film but the casting is now official.
