Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, will be portraying the now deceased icon. Michael was a legendary musical talent whose ability to create terrific music rocked the world. Co-starring in the movie as Michael’s dad and former manager, Joe Jackson, is the brilliant Oscar-nominated actor, Colman Domingo (Zola). Trailers have shown that Domingo took the job seriously and his performance looks like one of the highest caliber. It’s premature to say he’s deserving of an Academy Award nomination, but it surely looks like a possibility right now.

Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) is most likely hoping his new Oscar-bait project from Lionsgate will be both critically acclaimed and enjoyed by audiences, namely the millions of fans of the King of Pop. The early screenings of the film will include IMAX prints of the almost sure-to-be well received biopic. These screenings will offer terrific quality sound and crisp images that will make the film a truly pleasurable experience for those who cherished the beloved pop star’s music.

Miles Teller plays John Branca, Michael’s entertainment attorney, in the new picture from Fuqua. Teller is a very talented actor who appeared in acclaimed dramatic movies like Whiplash and The Spectacular Now. He also played in Top Gun: Maverick, a huge box-office smash from 2022. Other top-flight performers showcased in Michael include actress Nia Long.

It’s hard to know where Michael will fit in on the list of great music superstar biopics at this particular point in time. This film will run two hours and ten minutes in length, according to IMDb. With a veteran director like Fuqua behind the camera, we know the film will be technically proficient, but can Michael’s nephew really act and make us believe he’s the King of Pop? That is the question everyone is asking.

Michael will open nationwide in all formats on April 24th. Other famous songs by the King of Pop include “Billie Jean,” “Thriller” and Beat It” and the film will trace Jackson’s rise from the Jackson 5 to becoming the sensation who rocked the country with his singing, dancing and movements for at least a couple of solid decades. Jackson sadly died in 2009 of cardiac arrest.
