The second movie featurette for Mortal Engines (2018) debuted from Universal Pictures. The Mortal Engines featurette is entitled “Hester Shaw’ and delves into that character, the main character of the story. As I watched this featurette, I smiled. Not just at the news scenes but at the blatant subject no one spoke of – Hester Shaw’s scar (or the lack thereof). One of the most pivotal moments in the book (as well as its result) will be completely watered-down in the film incarnation.

Mortal Engines‘ plot synopsis: based on the book by Philip Reeve, “Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.”
