2010 Film Never Let Me Go Set To Become A Series

There will be an FX series showcasing the basic story line from 2010’s art house success, Never Let Me Go to star Kelly Macdonald and air on Hulu.

Mark Romanek’s dreamy and bleak drama from 2010, Never Let Me Go, is getting the series treatment. The story started out as an acclaimed book by author Kazuo Ishiguro which was adapted to the screen in 2010 by Alex Garland. Kelly Macdonald, one of the finest actresses working today, will have a principal role in the series while her two other major female co-stars will be Viola Prettejohn and Tracey Ullman.

The original 2010 movie starred Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield but was only an art house success grossing just $2.4 million domestically. The problem with that picture from a financial standpoint was its very disturbing premise which may play better to television viewers than it did to moviegoers. The story line of the new show revolves around a clone named Thora (Prettejohn) who escapes a boarding school of cloned students. When Thora lives among regular people, interesting events will transpire that may just change civilization forever.

Kelly Macdonald is an amazing actress who will have a prominent role on the show. She was in the movie Puzzle from 2018 which was an underappreciated indie film masterpiece. She deserved an Oscar nod for that movie but was sadly overlooked for one. She played in the movie, Operation Mincemeat recently. Her most beloved role was as the voice of Princess Merida in 2012’s Oscar-winning animated film, Brave. She also starred in Trainspotting.

Tracey Ullman is another star of the forthcoming series. Ullman needs no introduction. She had her own show, “The Tracey Ullman Show” and played Frenchy in Woody Allen’s hilarious 2000 comedy, Small Time Crooks which may have been her most hilarious role to date. She will be taking on a dramatic part in the upcoming series.

Viola Prettejohn is mostly known for her work on the TV show, “The Nevers.” Her work in the upcoming series based on the 2010 film will most likely catapult her to true stardom given the complexity and gravity of the show’s premise.

Still, Kelly Macdonald is the most seasoned dramatic actress of the trio who will be primarily featured in the new series. She is an actress of incredible range and could just find herself getting some awards if her work is equally as strong as it has been in her movie roles like Puzzle.

Never Let Me Go was a film which didn’t sit with me well when I first saw it but I have become quite intrigued by it as the years have passed thanks to its rich and powerful story. The upcoming show could even improve upon the original given its tremendous creativity!
