SNOWDEN (2016) Movie Trailer 3: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Charged with Espionage

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Snowden

Snowden Trailer 3

The third movie trailer for Snowden (2016) has been released for the Oliver Stone directed film. Unlike the first two Snowden movie trailers, this movie trailer focuses heavily on the meeting between journalists Glenn Greenwald (Zachary Quinto), Ewen MacAskill (Tom Wilkinson), documentarian Laura Poitras (Melissa Leo), and Edward Snowden (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in a hotel room in Japan. The real version of this meeting between its actual participants can be viewed in Laura PoitrasCitizenfour.

Lindsay Mills (Shailene Woodley) is given far more screen time than she was in the previous trailers. The trailer shows her and Snowden’s relationship as it began and deepened.

This trailer also shows the increased scrutiny that Snowden comes under by NSA. Whether that is post-active paranoia or factual, Snowden acts in the trailer as the threat is real.

Snowden‘s plot synopsis: “[Snowden] reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.”

Snowden also stars Rhys Ifans, Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood, Joely Richardson, Timothy Olyphant, and Ben Schnetzer.
