It has been 24 years since the original basketball film, Space Jam, was released. For several years, a sequel has been in the works and now the anticipated film has a title and a set release date. Surprisingly, the film will not be called ‘Space Jam 2’ like everyone has been referring to it as. In a social media post posted earlier today, NBA star LeBron James, posted a video of him in a hat that had the film’s official logo and title on it. The sequel is set to release in July 2021 by Warner Bros.  and it’s official title is ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’. James will be leading the cast of the upcoming live-action/animated sports comedy film.

The original Space Jam film told a fictional story of Bugs Bunny and his friends, as they seek the aid of retired basketball champion, Michael Jordan, in a desperate attempt to win a basketball match in order to earn their freedom from a team of aliens. The sequel will be directed by Malcolm D. Lee , who directed Girls Trip and Night School. The film will star James, alongside Don Cheadle and Sonequa Martin-Green.
