The second movie trailer for Star Trek Beyond (2016) has been released for the Justin Lin directed film. It was not a hard climb for this trailer to be better than the first trailer. The first trailer for this film was almost a complete failure. No one watching that trailer knew what the crew was doing or why they were doing it. It was more music video than movie trailer.

This trailer features a voice over that gives the viewer a feel of what they are seeing then the crew and new characters speak in various scenes.

The remarkable thing about this trailer is that it features U.S.S. Enterprise suffering catastrophic damage (like in the previous film), seemingly getting destroyed and stranding the crew on a alien planet. If that is in fact what is being shown, that is a bold narrative move on the screenwriter’s part. It sets up a scenario that fans have not seen before, though Kirk self-destructed the Enterprise in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

Star Trek Beyond‘s plot synopsis: “In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.”
