Thoughts

Emperor Sheev Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) has returned and many Star Wars fans wish that he had not. This is what you get when you kill your Big Bad in your second of three trilogy films. Many people speculated that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) was too faux angry, too weak, and too non-threatening to be The Rise of Skywalker‘s main villain and they were absolutely right.

Director Rian Johnson never should have killed off Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If he had not, The Emperor would not be in The Rise of Skywalker.

Now in this film, many of the things that should have happened in The Last Jedi, e.g. Rey (Daisy Ridley) actually training, are happening in this film.

Also, instead of the Big Bad have grown through all three films, as well as his threat, they are introducing a technically new villain who has zero ground work in the new trilogy in the last film in the trilogy.

This entire trilogy is sloppy. None of this was planned out. The last two films in this trilogy are a hodgepodge of deferring ideas and agendas, and The Rise of Skywalker, the emergency triad film, is the result.

The CGI imagery in trailer looks good but what can be gleamed as the storyline of the film seems only Okay, nothing special, most mimicking the prescient speculation of Star Wars fans on the Internet.
