The 20th Anniversary of SCHOOL OF ROCK Set to Reunite Cast Members

Jack Black School Of Rock

School of Rock 20th Reunion Coming Up

Jack Black is slated to soon reunite with the now-grown cast members of the 2003 Richard Linklater gem, School of Rock.

A reunion will be forthcoming that will bring back together stars of the hit movie, School of Rock. That film was about a struggling musician (played to perfection by Jack Black) who took over a friend’s class and secretly taught them to appreciate rock music and play together as a band. It was a huge hit at the fall box-office in 2003 earning $81 million domestically. It was directed by Richard Linklater and also co-starred a couple of funny ladies–Joan Cusack and Sarah Silverman. It scored an “A-” CinemaScore mark and cemented Jack Black’s place in the movies as a comic genius.

The kids who made up the music class in the 2003 picture are now all grown up. This “reunion” will take place just as school starts up again this coming September. Jack Black says that he will share pictures of the get-together when it happens so fans can see how the child stars of the movie look now. The biggest star of the movie out of the kid actors who appeared in it is surely singer/actress Miranda Cosgrove of “iCarly” fame who played the wise beyond her years Summer Hathaway. Who also could forget Kevin Alexander Clark who portrayed Freddy in the picture? Sadly, he will be unable to join the reunion since he has, unfortunately, passed away.

It will surely be bittersweet for the cast of one of the funniest movies ever made to get together. The film also inspired a theatrical play which ran for several years. Black earned a prestigious Golden Globe nod for his performance in 2003’s hit movie.

This reunion may inspire a sequel that should have happened sooner to actually occur. Though it seems unlikely, who wouldn’t want to see the characters from the original film send (perhaps) their children to a “school of rock?” Paramount Plus would be a great home for this follow-up picture to take flight.

Jack Black followed up School of Rock with a role in another box-office hit–2005’s King Kong remake. He is currently voicing the wicked Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Black has always been a wholly unique talent whose comic abilities are hard to duplicate in another performer.

School of Rock is one of Richard Linklater’s most enjoyable films to date. It should be a blast for the cast to get together and celebrate 20 years since one of the funniest, most entertaining movies of its time was originally released. Look for more on this reunion when it actually happens this fall.
