THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER: Kristen Stewart Tapped to Helm Film Based on Acclaimed Memoir

Kristen Stewart Slated to Direct Upcoming Feature Film

Oscar-nominated actress Kristen Stewart will be working with Scott Free when she directs the forthcoming film, The Chronology of Water.

Kristen Stewart became a box-office sensation when she starred in the popular book-based Twilight films which did amazing business at the box-office. It seems that Stewart isn’t resting on her laurels too much these days when one considers the heavy workload she has taken on recently. Not only did she get an Oscar nomination for her dramatic work as Princess Diana in the critically acclaimed Spencer but the much adored actress also appeared in the legendary director David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future recently as well. Now, Stewart will be behind the camera as she will be co-writing and directing a film titled The Chronology of Water.

Based on the powerful memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch, Stewart will be making The Chronology of Water for Scott Free. It is a passionate story of a female swimmer who learns to come to terms with her bisexuality and her destiny as she becomes a teacher, a mom and a writer. With an abusive father and an alcoholic mother, the main character of the book faced many obstacles which she fearlessly overcame. This memoir was well reviewed by book industry leader, Publishers Weekly.

Stewart has been one of the most constantly prolific actresses in Hollywood ever since 2002 when she made her appearance in Panic Room which co-starred Oscar winner Jodie Foster and was directed by David Fincher. Stewart appeared opposite Robert Pattinson in the vampire movies based on the Twilight book series. Those movies were huge box-office successes, as previously stated, but Stewart faltered a bit with a recent Charlie’s Angels reboot which under-performed financially.

Imogen Poots is slated to appear in the central role in The Chronology of Water. Poots appeared in 2015’s A24 horror film, Green Room and, more recently, in the Oscar-nominated movie, The Father. Under Stewart’s wing, Poots will almost certainly give a career-defining performance in The Chronology of Water. That’s because the movie will showcase one of the most juicy roles an actress could ask for since it has plenty of dramatic substance in the story line. This complexity will make the character one who is going to be challenging and rewarding to play for Poots.

Stewart may have won the Oscar for Spencer in almost any other year but since she was up against the formidable Jessica Chastain who had played a wonderful role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, it was almost impossible to score an Academy Award victory. However, Stewart’s persistence in terms of working on substantial projects makes an Oscar win a definite possibility in her future. The Chronology of Water doesn’t have a release date as of now.
