Zendaya to Team With Hollywood Star for A24 Film
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame will potentially be cast in a new project from A24 and director Kristoffer Borgli titled The Drama.
Director Kristoffer Borgli made Dream Scenario last year, an offbeat A24 indie which starred Nicolas Cage and Julianne Nicholson. It resulted in box-office grosses of over $12 million worldwide so now director Borgli is taking it up a notch by potentially casting Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in his next film, The Drama. In this forthcoming film, the proposed stars would play a couple who face an unexpected detour in their relationship before a big life-changing event is about to take place.
Ari Aster (Hereditary) will produce the upcoming film. He also served as a producer on Dream Scenario which was one of the most unique pictures of 2023. It showcased Nicolas Cage in remarkable work as a man who people have seen in their dreams. But, the difference this time out is that Zendaya and Pattinson are formidable marquee names and box-office draws. This is not going to be a traditional indie film but one that has “possible hit” written all over it.
Zendaya wowed movie-goers earlier this year with her work in Challengers which some were talking about earlier in the year as potential Oscar bait. Several months after that film opened, the buzz has died down a bit but not completely and Zendaya still could be in talks to receive award nomination consideration this year. If that movie fails to get her recognized, there’s always the remarkable Dune: Part Two although stars of such science fiction films are rarely recognized with accolades by the Oscars.
Pattinson has been in hits like the Twlight films and The Batman but it’s his dramatic work in under-seen movies like Remember Me from 2010 that really stands out. People should “remember” a scene in that film where his character got into a verbal fight in a professional office with Pierce Brosnan who played his dad. Pattinson can do blockbusters superbly but his work in Remember Me proves he is much more than your average Hollywood star. He’s an accomplished actor.
The Drama looks to be one of A24’s more high-profile upcoming releases. We will reveal more news on this exciting project as details become available.
