Westworld Trailer 4 and Poster

HBO‘s fourth TV show trailer for Westworld (2016) has premiered and is full of new footage. The last promo and this trailer are the  best representations of the differing “attractions” that this show will offer the viewer. Like Into The West and Hell on Wheels, this Westworld trailer shows the viewer a hellish version of the west and frontier life. This trailer show that androids, called Hosts, are not not only settlers, cowboys, etc. They are also Native Americans.

Like in the previous trailer, this trailer shows Host-on-Host violence but it also shows the sexual side of the upcoming Sci-fi TV series as well. I always knew that the wealthy would not go to Westworld only to play cowboy or to garner the feel of what is was like to live in that time period. Westworld is fantasy escapism and for some, not all, fantasy evolves sexual activity.

It is obvious from this trailer that Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) will be the central character of the series. It is through Dolores’ eyes that the viewer sees much of what transpires in this trailer and potentially the series as well. It seems that Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) has created something that he hadn’t expected. A machine capable of dreams. A dreaming machine is a dangerous concept, some of which Dr. Ford goes into with Dolores.

Sounds a bit like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep to me. How about you?

Westworld‘s plot synopsis: “The series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, and is set at a theme park run by very life-like androids. Unlike the film, which centered around human visitors being menaced by robot workers, the show will be from the workers’ perspective. The one-hour drama series…is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”

Westworld also stars Ed Harris, Steven Ogg, Timothy Lee DePriest, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Angela Sarafyan, Simon Quarterman Thandie Newton, James Marsden, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Eddie Rouse, Demetrius Grosse, Kyle Bornheimer, Currie Graham, and Lena Georgas.
