WHAT HAPPENS LATER: Meg Ryan’s Upcoming Romantic Comedy is Her First Film Project in 8 Years

Meg Ryan to Appear in Upcoming Romance

Meg Ryan will be starring in her first major film role in 8 years in the movie, What Happens Later, where she will play opposite David Duchovny.

Things are looking bright for one-time superstar, Meg Ryan, who is appearing in a romantic comedy for older audiences called What Happens Later. The truth is, though, that Ryan’s film (which she also is directing) could be just as appealing for younger moviegoers as older ones if it turns out to be as good as comedies like the early ones she made with Tom Hanks– Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail.

The last time Meg Ryan starred in a movie which she directed, things didn’t go as expected. In 2015’s Ithaca, Ryan found herself in the middle of some negative reviews for that film which did, indeed, reunite her with Tom Hanks but not in the way audiences may have hoped for. Now, What Happens Later, offers Ryan the opportunity to come back into showbiz and get back her fans.

Judging from the recently unveiled first-look pictures of the movie, What Happens Later, Ryan and Duchovny look like they have been matched perfectly for a romantic film. This film is set in an airport where the two stars will be playing a former couple who have reunited at an airport due to being snowed in which causes plane delays.

October 13th is the release date of What Happens Later. It is the perfect opposite of The Exorcist: Believer which opens the same day. Meg Ryan’s movie could just end up doing well in its premiere weekend as it puts a smile on viewers’ faces while warming their hearts in the interim.

David Duchovny recently has the unfortunate experience of starring in last year’s disappointing, The Estate but his role in What Happens Later marks the return of Duchovny to the type of role that has always suited him rather well– a romantic one. Opposite Demi Moore in 2010’s gem, The Joneses, Duchovny shone bright and it could just happen again as he plays a romantic role against Ryan.

Meg Ryan had faked a major on-screen orgasm that audiences loved in When Harry Met Sally. In that scene, she hilariously moaned and groaned in the highlight of the film. Her co-star Billy Crystal was great with Ryan and Rob Reiner directed that masterful work of comedy. Could Ryan deliver a comedy that would make Reiner proud with What Happens Later? We will know on October 13th when the film is unveiled to the public. But, with former sex symbols, Duchovny and Ryan getting together, all bets should be on for a successful romantic comedy pairing.
