The United States movie trailer for Derek Cianfrance‘s The Light Between Oceans (2016) has been released. Unlike the U.K. trailer, this trailer gives the viewer the background on the Sherbournes before the baby washes ashore. The viewer sees the couple’s struggles and their mindset, especially Isabel Sherbourne (Alicia Vikander), proceeding the baby’s arrival.

There are new bits of footage here and there as well with Hannah Roennfeldt (Rachel Weisz) realizing that her daughter may be alive. This The Light Between Oceans trailer certainly gives the impression to the viewer that the film is about love and loss. The trailer also gets across that the film delivers on all emotional fronts.

The Light Between Oceans also stars Michael Fassbender, Caren Pistorius, Benedict Hardie, Emily Barclay, Anthony Hayes, Leon Ford, Florence Clery, Thomas Unger, and Scott Wills.

The Light Between Oceans‘ plot synopsis: based on the novel by M.L. Stedman, “On a remote Australian island in the years following World War I, lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and his wife, Isabel (Alicia Vikander), discover a boat washed ashore carrying a dead man and a two-month old baby. Rescuing the infant, they make the decision to raise her as their own but the consequences of their choice prove to be devastating.”
