A COMPLETE UNKNOWN: Timothée Chalamet Set to Play Bob Dylan in Upcoming Film

Timothee Chalamet A Rainy Day In New York

Timothée Chalamet to Play Bob Dylan in Biopic

Timothée Chalamet is set to star in James Mangold‘s upcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown, and the actor will sing in the film as well.

Timothée Chalamet may be known best for his role in the recent Dune movie but the young accomplished star is now taking on what could be the role of his career: music superstar Bob Dylan. The forthcoming movie will set itself around the Newport Folk Festival from 1965. While folk music was Dylan’s specialty, acting is Chalamet’s so expect him to nail this role if the quality of the star’s previous work is any evidence as to how he’ll do in this new part.

Chalamet is expected to be using his very own singing voice in both this upcoming movie and the soon-to-be-released Wonka which is due this holiday season. A Complete Unknown is expected to start filming late this coming summer. The director of the Dylan film has recently completed Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which will be released in theaters early this summer in June. Expect a box-office smash there.

While Chalamet was slated to appear in this Bob Dylan movie for about three years, the production is actually finally coming into fruition in August when it will start filming. The story of the picture will revolve around Dylan’s catapult to stardom as he came to New York virtually penniless and soon became a music sensation.

Though Chalamet is no stranger to taking risks in the roles he selects, playing Bob Dylan may be his most ambitious project yet. This past year, Chalamet excelled in the dramatic horror movie, Bones and All, which sadly fizzled at the box-office despite the star’s hard work and dedication. Movie audiences just weren’t ready to see the heartthrob in a dark role such as the one he had in that picture.

The forthcoming Dune: Part Two and Wonka should easily remedy Chalamet’s last box-office failure. Both of those movies are expected to reign supreme at the domestic box-office. The actor takes parts for art’s sake sometimes and that doesn’t always translate to a box-office success. He also appeared in one of Woody Allen’s latest art house efforts, A Rainy Day in New York.

It is certainly the biggest question on everybody’s mind regarding whether or not Chalamet could score an Oscar nomination for playing Bob Dylan and the answer to the question of “will he be nominated?” should be a resounding “yes!” Oscar loves actors who succeed at playing a real-life person and when that performer also sings brilliantly, it sometimes leads to Academy Award gold. Let’s see if Chalamet pulls this one off successfully and lives up to his fans’ expectations!
