AZRAEL: Samara Weaving Set to Star in New Upcoming Horror Movie

Samara Weaving

Samara Weaving Comes on Board Another Horror Movie

Horror movie queen, Samara Weaving, has been cast in yet another fright fest; this one is titled Azrael.

She’s already starred in one of the best horror films of the past five years, Ready or Not, and has been cast in the upcoming sure-to-be terrifying follow up “requel” picture to this year’s Scream, Scream 6. Now, the very interesting and talented actress, Samara Weaving, has been cast in Azrael, an action/horror picture from Simon Barrett, the writer of the upcoming 2024 studio tentpole movie, Godzilla vs. Kong 2. This upcoming horror project, Azrael, has been deemed one of the most anticipated of upcoming horror pictures despite precious little of the film’s story line being revealed.

Barrett also wrote the 2013 horror movie, You’re Next, which is one of the most acclaimed horror movies of the past decade. It featured Barrett in a supporting role as a Tiger Mask wearing culprit in the very intelligent and suspenseful movie which featured masked killer suspects. Now, Azrael, is said to be a movie with franchise potential and Weaving’s presence has certainly raised an eyebrow or two in Hollywood given Weaving’s track record of picking winners.

In 2019, Weaving’s no-holds-barred performance in the great horror movie, Ready or Not, proved to be a star-making role. Weaving played opposite some fine performers in the fright fest which co-starred Adam Brody and Andie MacDowell. That film holds an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was about a woman trying to escape the clutches of a crazed family during a twisted game set in an oversized mansion.

More recently, Weaving has been cast in the upcoming dramatic holiday release, Babylon. She will be starring opposite Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire and Margot Robbie among others. Damien Chazelle (La La Land) is directing the high-profile project which is expected to walk away with some major Oscar nominations early next year.

Weaving was seen this past spring in the romantic comedy, The Valet, which played on Hulu and won the actress many new fans. Weaving played a movie star who pairs up with an average Joe to try to re-establish herself in the media after a major scandal. To her surprise, the movie star ends up falling for the everyday guy, a valet.

While Weaving is going to be taking over the high-profile upcoming Scream “requel” with her formidable presence, all eyes will also be on her next foray into horror after that, Azrael which is written by one of the brightest horror scribes working today. Weaving is also almost a dead ringer for co-star Margot Robbie which will make her casting in the Oscar bait film, Babylon, all the more interesting.
