BLADE (2024): Mia Goth Added to Cast of Marvel’s Upcoming Science Fiction Film

Intriguing Horror Film Actress Mia Goth Cast in Blade

Mia Goth has been added to the cast of the upcoming reboot of the science fiction vampire movie, Blade.

When it comes to making an impact on screen, Mia Goth excels so it is only appropriate that she has joined Mahershala Ali (Green Book) in Marvel’s Blade reboot. Yann Demange will be directing the forthcoming Blade picture which promises to be much “darker” than your typical Marvel picture. Anyone who has seen Goth’s superb work in last year’s Pearl knows that the actress is capable of stellar work and although her exact role in Blade has yet to be revealed, her fans are ecstatic that she will be appearing in the film.

This new reboot is set for release in early September 2024. The original Blade which featured Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire hunter opened in August 1998 which was almost 25 years ago. Snipes’s film got an excellent “A-” CinemaScore rating and earned a healthy $70 million domestically. In 2002, Blade II earned a slightly better $82 million in the U.S. and Canada. With Oscar winner Ali taking on the role, expect this new one to have the potential to do just as well as the Snipes films, if not better.

Goth had quite the year in 2022 with X and its prequel Pearl which established the actress as one of the most underrated talents working today. She started 2023 off with a forceful role in the twisted horror movie, Infinity Pool. Goth appeared in the remake of Emma which was released in 2020 but she usually sticks to horror movies. She previously starred in the reworking of the horror picture, Suspiria in 2018.

It was recently reported that Goth has started working on another upcoming picture called MaXXXine which is the third movie in the X series. However, Blade is going to be a much more mainstream project given its association with Marvel studios and the built-in fan base from the Wesley Snipes movies. Goth has a lot of versatility as an actress which makes it easy for her to do both art house pictures and mainstream films as well.

Without a doubt, it will be hard to top the first scene of 1998’s Blade which featured a virtual bloodbath of vampire action. These movies tend to get really gory and, hopefully, the reboot will live up to its predecessors.

It seems that Goth is not one to take much time off from working and has also been cast in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein project for Netflix as well. Blade will be the last film in Marvel’s Phase Five. With Goth on board, expect nothing but the best as horror fans will most likely be enthralled at the actress’s presence in the vampire movie.
