MAXXXINE: Lily Collins Added to Cast of Ti West’s Upcoming Movie Sequel to X

Lily Collins Joins Ti West’s Follow Up to X

Lily Collins has been cast in the upcoming film, MaXXXine, which will serve as a sequel to the terrific Ti West horror film, X.

You know British actress Lily Collins from “Emily in Paris,” but she’s going to most likely be much different from the character she plays on that show if Ti West is going to have anything to say about it. Collins has just been cast in the eagerly awaited movie, MaXXXine. Mia Goth will be playing the title character who is headed to L.A. to become an actress in the third movie in the X series. The movie X was released in early 2022 and earned over $11 million domestically. Pearl was released in September of last year and made a little less than X with just about $9 million earned in the U.S. and Canada. Right now, MaXXXine looks like its prospects at the box-office will be much better than both of its predecessors.

Lily Collins is musician Phil Collins’s daughter. She came on to the Hollywood scene big-time when she played Snow White opposite Julia Roberts in the movie from 2012, Mirror Mirror. That 2012 movie received a “B+” CinemaScore grade and did a pretty dandy $64 million at the domestic box-office but, more importantly, it showcased Collins’s fine talents to the world.

Recently, Ti West made a prequel to X called Pearl which starred Mia Goth as a younger version of the evil old lady serial killer from X. The talented Goth will not only be joined by Collins in the A24 release, MaXXXine, but by several other performers as well, including the always formidable Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Cannavale. The picture will start shooting this month in none other than -you guessed it– L.A. Monaghan and Cannavale will both serve as L.A. detectives in the picture.

While Collins’s role in the forthcoming movie is a secret for now, Bacon will be playing a private detective in it. Bacon is coming off the popular horror movie from last summer, They/Them and is making a pretty interesting comeback as an actor in terms of appearing in more interesting fare than his typical dramatic roles that he previously played.

Collins also starred in another high-profile film called The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones back in 2013. It made $31 million at the domestic box-office and more than double that total internationally. It also received a “B+” CinemaScore mark from viewers.

MaXXXine will be a big chance for Collins to take on a more mature movie role these days as she has played her recent role lightly (but perfectly) in the pleasantly entertaining “Emily in Paris.” Her fans can’t wait to see her new part in Ti West’s upcoming picture.
