Sony Pictures may acquire Stan and Ollie

Sony Pictures Classics is nearing securing the United States distribution rights for John S. Baird‘s Stan and Ollie. The film has a United Kingdom release date set for January 11, 2019.

Stan and Ollie‘s plot synopsis: “The story centers on Laurel & Hardy, the world’s favorite comedy double act, who set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953. Diminished by age and with their golden era as the kings of Hollywood comedy now behind them, they face an uncertain future. Despite the pressure of a hectic schedule, with the support of their wives Lucille (Shirley Henderson) and Ida (Nina Arianda) – a formidable double act in their own right – the pair’s love of performing, as well as love for each other, endures as they secure their place in the hearts of their adoring public. As they set out, crisscrossing the country, attendances are disappointingly low. But they’ve always been able to make each other laugh and as the charm and beauty of their performances shines through their audiences laugh too, and they re-connect with legions of adoring fans, old and new.

The film stars Steve Coogan, John C. Reilly, Stephanie Hyam, and Danny Huston. The screenplay for the film was written by Jeff Pope.

Mortal Engines Film Adaptation gains a Musial Composer

The musical score for Mortal Engines will be provided by Tom Holkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL.  Mortal Engines will released in U.S. theaters through on Universal Pictures on December 14, 2018.

Party of Five Reboot TV Pilot Episode Given Green-lit

The Party of Five reboot has been given the go ahead and will air on Freeform. The new version integrates the United States current policy on immigration into its plotline: the series follows “the five Buendías children as they struggle to survive together as a family after their parents are deported to Mexico.

Goodnight Mommy Remake Film Green-lit

A U.S. remake of Goodnight Mommy will be written by Kyle Warren and directed by Matt Sobel.

Goodnight Mommy‘s plot synopsis: “Twin boys move to a new home with their mother after she has face changing cosmetic surgery, but under her bandages is someone the children don’t recognize.”

James Bond 25 Possible Directors’ List Shortens

Midway’s Theatrical Relapse Date Announced

Roland Emmerich’s Midway will be released in U.S. theaters though Lionsgate on November 8, 2019.

Midway‘s plot synopsis: “Based on the true story of the Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II, the film chronicles the heroic and harrowing exploits of the soldiers and aviators who achieved the unbelievable to turn the tide of the war.”

Midway stars Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Woody Harrelson, Mandy Moore, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Dennis Quaid, Keean Johnson, and Tadanobu Asano.

Wes Tooke wrote the screenplay for the film.

Cold Warrior

Shane Black’s Cold Warrior script has emerged out of production and will be produced by Netflix.

Netflix Rescues Designated Survivor for Season 3

ABCs Designated Survivor, which was cancelled after its second season, has been picked up for a third season by Netflix. The third season will be ten episodes long, half the length of the previous two seasons.

Designated Survivor: Season 3: plot synopsis: “the new season will resume with Kirkman preparing to fight for reelection. “Campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance and fake news” will all be among the topics explored in season 3. And because every show needs a touch of melodrama, the description also said that “democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance.”

Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland, Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, LaMonica Garrett, Tanner Buchanan, Kal Penn, and Maggie Q.
