Candyman Remake Might Happen

Jordan Peele is in talks to produce a remake of Candyman, the 1992 horror film directed by Bernard Rose. The original film was based on the The Forbidden, a short story written by Clive Barker.

The plot of the original film: “the story of a graduate student Helen Lyle who is writing a research about local legends and myths in Chicago. While researching about the project, she meets Anne-Marie McCoy who tells her about the urban legend The Candyman, an artist and a son of a slave who had his hand severed and was then murdered by his lover’s father. Legend says that he will appear if you say his name five times in front a mirror.”

Hobbs & Shaw Begins Production

The production on The Fast and the Furious spin-off film Hobbs & Shaw has officially commenced. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vanessa Kirby, and Idris Elba, was written by Chris Morgan, and will be directed by David Leitch.

Hobbs & Shaw will be released in U.S. theaters through Universal Pictures on August 2, 2019.

Swamp Thing TV Series Gets its Rating

DC Universe’s Swamp Thing TV series will be a hard R-rated TV series. Swamp Thing will also be using practical effects, particularly a “man in suit” for Swamp Thing. The TV series will premiere in 2019.

The CW is Developing The Cove

Family drama The Cove is being developed by The CW to air on its network.

The Cove‘s plot synopsis: “The Cove is set to be an hour-long dauntless adventure drama that follows the story of estranged sisters in the aftermath of their father’s death as they return to the Caribbean resort island they frequently go to as a family, only to discover that the island paradise is hiding many secrets which includes the missing treasure that their father was obsessed about and may ultimately hold the key to eternal life.”

Mayans M.C. Premieres to Good Ratings

The new FX TV series Mayans M.C. has premiered to great ratings.

The premiere averaged 6.8 million total viewers — including three encore runs and digital streaming — becoming the highest-rated drama for a basic cable drama series premiere in Adults 18-49 since January 2016. On top of that, the episode beat the numbers for the original Sons of Anarchy premiere by 46%. Mayans M.C. also dethroned the 2016 premiere of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story as the most-watched series premiere on FX.

The BBC TV series Poldark‘s upcoming fifth season will be its last season.

It: Chapter Two Will Feature the Chud Ritual
