Catherine Zeta-Jones Set To Return to the Movies in an Upcoming Indie Film

Catherine Zeta-Jones Slated to Return to the Cinematic World
Catherine Zeta-Jones of Chicago fame is soon going to be returning to the screen and “all that jazz” with a new upcoming independent film.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Chicago and co-starred in Rock of Ages, will be hitting the movie scene again with “her best shot” in a new upcoming indie film. Zeta-Jones has recently found herself appearing on the hit Netflix show, “Wednesday.” However, she’s been absent from movies for a period of time. Zeta-Jones has revealed that her latest film project is going to be helmed by a woman and it should be starting production sometime in 2025.
Zeta-Jones has been cast in the role of an art dealer in the forthcoming picture which, at the time, has an unspecified story line. Zeta-Jones won much acclaim for her tremendous work in Chicago though her good comic turn in Rock of Ages went unnoticed by some as that Tom Cruise-starrer faltered a bit at the box-office back in 2012. She was led back to the movies with the new independent project but had previously taken some time off because of a drought of good, “inspiring” scripts, sources say.
These days, Zeta-Jones has been earning a lot of buzz for a role she was born to play- Morticia Addams. Season Two of “Wednesday” will be coming to Netflix some time next year. Zeta-Jones, it has been reported, has a certain level of fondness for her co-star on the show, Jenna Ortega. Zeta-Jones has also had interaction with Lady Gaga while working on “Wednesday.”
In the late 1990’s to the early/mid 2000’s, Zeta-Jones was something of a mega-star and a sex symbol. She appeared with Antonio Banderas in a Zorro film, played opposite Sean Connery in Entrapment and co-starred with spouse Michael Douglas in the Oscar-nominated Traffic. Zeta-Jones also did horror in The Haunting and comedy/romance in No Reservations. Her career-defining role came in the 2002 cinematic musical, Chicago, when Zeta-Jones played with another Oscar-winner (who wasn’t one at time time, however), Renee Zellweger and the always solid Richard Gere, not to mention Queen Latifah, in the spectacular film which won several Oscars. It was a big box-office hit as well. It had won the Academy Award for Best Picture in a very competitive year.
Catherine Zeta-Jones could one day find herself in the running for yet another Oscar but, in the meantime, she’ll slowly transition back to the big screen with her latest indie film. I, for one, can’t wait to see her working in the movies again. Her absence has been felt and it’s time for her to start shining bright again and “all that jazz.”
