CLOSE TO YOU: Elliot Page Set to Reunite with Hillary Baack in Upcoming Dramatic Film

Elliot Page The Umbrella Academy

Elliot Page Will Star in New Dramatic Film

Elliot Page is set to return to the screen again opposite the co-star of one of his previous films with a new movie, Close to You.

It has been revealed that Elliot Page has taken on a new role in a project titled, Close to You, which will reunite the actor with his The East co-star, Hillary Baack. If that weren’t news enough, Page has a new memoir out called Pageboy that Kirkus Reviews hailed as “An affecting and timely memoir.” The Oscar-nominated (for 2007’s Juno) performer has a history of independent film roles which makes his part in Close to You one to watch very closely.

While Close to You is certain to focus on the theme of love in a very complex and groundbreaking way, it is also noteworthy that the picture has been helmed by the always intriguing Dominic Savage. Hillary Baack (also of the highly acclaimed 2020 film, Sound of Metal) will appear opposite Page as an old-time friend of Page’s character, Sam, who helps propel the story’s ideas into motion. Old memories come to surface which will certainly make the dramatic impact of the film heightened significantly.

Page has recently scored the attention of viewers on the smash hit Netflix show, “The Umbrella Academy.” The queer, trans performer came on to the movie scene when he wowed the movie-going public with his turn in Juno which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. Page got an acting nod for the great comedic picture as well.

Juno made $143 million domestically and proved to be one of the biggest box-office indie hits of all-time. Page had a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s 2010 box-office tentpole, Inception where Page appeared opposite another Oscar winner, Leonardo DiCaprio. Perhaps, Page’s indie movie roots were also evident in one of the actor’s less successful (from a financial standpoint) film, The Tracey Fragments. 2005’s Hard Candy was the first huge role of Page’s film career.

Close to You is going to be the type of movie where true freedom of expression is everything. It will explore unique, complex characters in a powerful way if it’s anything like the description which has been surrounding this very ambitious independent project.

If you’re looking for a thought-provoking memoir, Page’s book, Pageboy, is just the ticket while waiting for Close to You to be released. Page’s upcoming picture may be the type of film that could re-enforce Page’s terrific appeal which is so evident on the hit show, “The Umbrella Academy.” Page could be due for another Oscar nod some time soon so watch his work in Close to You very carefully to see if the performer could be deserving!
