Netflix and Grant Sputore‘s I Am Mother (2019) movie trailer has been released and stars Hilary Swank, Clara Rugaard, and Rose Byrne.

Plot Synopsis

I Am Mother‘s plot synopsis: “A sci-fi thriller about a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Rose Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.”

Thoughts

This film has an intriguing premise – a machine that raises a girl in an affectionate way in the near future as part of an experiment. The twist revealed in the trailer could have been good while actually watching the film but it is revealed in this trailer (along with a major part of the third act). Why do film companies do this? They ruin the suspense in their own film before the viewer has had a chance to see the film.

I will still be watching though. Good science fiction films are becoming increasing hard to come by these days.
