Megalopolis Cuts Some of its Crew But Remains On Track

Francis Ford Coppola has declared that his upcoming movie, Megalopolis, is still living up to his vision despite some obvious budgetary restraints.

Despite reports that director Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming film, Megalopolis, has ballooned out of control, the  legendary filmmaker has suggested that things are just where they need to be on the production. Of course, there were some budgetary problems which led to some turnover in terms of production staff, but the movie is right where it needs to be, according to Coppola and one of the movie’s stars, Adam Driver.

While it’s true the art department fled the production, this movie is hardly the disaster prior reports have suggested. This movie carries a price tag of $100 million and has been in the news for its intriguing cast which includes Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight and Emily the Criminal, herself, Aubrey Plaza. Coppola says he is truly happy with his new picture’s cast and the filmmaker declares he has not gone above the allotted budget for the movie. In fact, Coppola has never been happier with his cast than he is with the one of this film.

Coppola also added that the dailies for the film are up to his satisfaction from an artistic standpoint. On a production as tight as the one that is Megalopolis, it is natural that certain crew members could leave the set for any number of reasons but the prior recent reports on the chaos that was ensuing on the set are simply not true. It comes with the territory that a huge production such as this one will have some kinks but there is nothing holding the project back from potential greatness.

Francis Ford Coppola has had a mixed career with some movies that didn’t live up to potential such as Jack, the Robin Williams vehicle from 1996. However, it seems that the potential for Megalopolis to live up to audience expectations is still definitely there. This film is expected to wrap filming in the spring of 2023.

It is with great anticipation that Coppola hopes to release his film in IMAX theaters alongside traditional theaters, and the filmmaker wants to get the most prestigious release possible outside of the film festival circuits. Coppola put a lot of his own personal investment into the movie (particularly financially). He is making his dream project come true and, hopefully, the finished project will live up to the renowned filmmaker’s expectations and those anticipations of audience members as well.

Apparently, there have been heightened details reported regarding a chaotic set but as far as Coppola is concerned, they are simply not accurate details of the reality of the situation at hand.
