Naruto Being Adapted into a Live-Action Feature Film

Naruto is about to make his leap from page to screen, as the popular manga and anime series will be made into a live-action film. Lionsgate recently acquired the rights to the franchise with the studio looking to adapt the film based off the long-running anime.

Creator Masashi Kishimoto has been brought on board to oversee Naruto’s transition into the big screen. Fans have been looking forward to seeing their favorite ninja make his way to film in live-action. Kishimoto confirmed the news at the Weekly Jump’s Jump Festa where he made the announcement on the future of his popular series. One of the biggests news was the live-action adaptation of Naruto as Kishimoto has also been asked to help with the film’s development. Director Michael Gracey will be working on the film with Kishimoto.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Naruto follows the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki, a young student ninja who aspires to become Hokage, or leader of his village. The manga series debuted in 1997, selling millions of copies in the past few years and soon developed into a popular anime series. The franchise consisted of spin-offs, video games, and novels.

We don’t have any word on when the film will come out, but it’s understandable when fans are worried for the film too. That’s because Hollywood hasn’t done well in successfully adapting anime like Dragon Ball Evolution. Hopefully this trend will be popular again if next year’s Ghost in the Shell does well.
