There was a reunion at this year’s NYC Comic Con of the stars of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which was a show set in the superhero world that ran for seven seasons. Its stars, Clark Cregg, Chloe Bennet and Ming-Na Wen took the stage at the recent event under the moderation of Ashley V. Robinson for an open conversation looking back at the show’s run and the funny things that drove the show and the terrific energy the cast displayed on it.

Clark Gregg portrayed Coulson on the show and he had fun on stage as he shared memories of working on the beloved series. Ming-Na Wen served as Melinda May on S.H.I.E.L.D. and she humorously recounted a time when a fan wanted to show her a tattoo of his inner thigh which was inspired by her. Wen declined to see the tattoo in person, instead opting for a picture of it to be sent to her. Chloe Bennet played Skye/Daisy Johnson/Quake on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and she was the true standout on the recent panel with her humorous look back at some wild times throughout her career making the show and beyond.

For anyone who doesn’t know, S.H.I.E.L.D. means Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. While Gregg had his share of enjoyable interactions with fan questions asked at the Q+A at Comic Con, Bennet shared some particularly wild stories, one involving a time she was driving around in a car with a license plate someone stuck on the front of the car which read BALLS DEEP. She didn’t notice it for months. If that wasn’t bad enough, Bennet talked about a time she was at a table reading and passionately read lines incorrectly. She read Colonel exactly as it sounds rather than how it is pronounced (kur-nuhl). The way it was read sounded like “kuh-low-nuhl.” That story drove the house into laughter. This was truly the high point of the panel.

These three cast members fondly recalled how they thought Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was going to end after five seasons and it was bittersweet as they reached the conclusion of the fifth season only to go on for two more seasons which was a beautiful thing for this group of performers. Ashley V. Robinson engaged the performers in an interesting conversation that took the stars back into the times the show ran (2013-2020).

There are currently no real plans to reunite for a new project that would be spun off Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but through this event, the three stars were thrust back into the limelight. Most of the questions asked to the stars revolved around their favorite characters and episodes, and Gregg had fun recognizing people’s hometowns and answering questions in a speedy way when the time crunch began and there was just a limited amount of minutes left. There was a speed round of questions which Gregg handled well.

Chloe Bennet proved the most energetic one on the panel in terms of her vivid storytelling as she admitted just having a G.E.D. was probably what led to her table reading fiasco. Gregg was the most engaging cast member as he welcomed the slew of fans’ questions to the team from the show. One of them talked about Coulson‘s death(s) briefly which was one of the few questions that zeroed in on specifics from the show rather than generalities about the characters as a whole.

Ming-Na Wen ended up briefly digging back into her ER days at one point in an unexpected scenario that was driven by a fan question. She was also brought back to her Mulan Disney princess days by a moment within the conference as well. Overall, Ashley V. Robinson proved to be a moderator who allowed the stars to be free with themselves and have a great time on stage. While the conversation didn’t dig too deep into the overall nature of the show or offer insight into a potential relaunch, it did give Gregg and Bennet moments to laugh and reminisce in such a way that the audience had a good time revisiting the past times and story lines that were showcased in the standalone show that was Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
