PADDINGTON IN PERU (2024): Cute Sequel’s Release Date Delayed Until Valentine’s Day Weekend 2025

Paddington 3’s Release Date Shifts From January to February 2025
The long-awaited sequel, Paddington in Peru, has been delayed for domestic release until Valentine’s Day Weekend 2025 where it will face some interesting competition.
Sony has moved the eagerly anticipated Paddington in Peru from Martin Luther King Jr. weekend 2025 to a month later when it will be unveiled in theaters on Valentine’s Day weekend. While the film has been a tremendous success in the UK, the US release is being timed just right so that people will have the best opportunity to see it. With blockbusters like Wicked and Moana 2 most likely expected to be long gone by Valentine’s Day, the upcoming third Paddington movie is seeking to keep a lock on family audiences that weekend in February where President’s Day will soon follow. Emily Mortimer is one of the major stars of Paddington in Peru.
It seems like a clear path has been set for Paddington in Peru to rule at the box-office in terms of family-themed releases. The troubled Snow White live-action film is set for a release in March 2025 when it could likely unseat the new Paddington movie as the family film of choice. But, that still gives Paddington in Peru plenty of time to rake in some serious cash at domestic theaters.
Paddington 2 was, at one point, the best rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes from a critical standpoint and the reviews on the third movie have been almost as excellent, if not quite on the level of the second film. The Paddington movies found modest success at the domestic box-office but the studio for the third movie, Sony, is probably hoping to top even those nice grosses that the last two pictures made in the US and Canada. It would be interesting to see Paddington in Peru earn $116 million domestically which would make those earnings better than the last two Paddington movies combined.
CinemaScore audiences tend to be very kind to the Paddington films. They both earned straights “A’s.” Could Paddington in Peru be the one to finally earn an “A+?” Everything is in place for the new picture to get that grade, including the early enthusiastic responses from UK audiences which has been quite overwhelmingly positive.
There is some bad news for the cuddly teddy bear, however. Captain America: Brave New World will be one of the films competing with Paddington in Peru at the box-office as the superhero movie is set to open that same weekend in February. But, one film is geared more towards teens and the other (Paddington 3) is targeted more towards younger kids so, perhaps, both pictures could thrive at the box-office during their holiday weekend debuts.
