Rob Reiner’s Castle Rock Gets Fund To Develop New Films

Rob Reiner‘s prestigious Castle Rock Entertainment label has just received a $175 million fund to create new film projects.

He’s come a long way from his days of being called Meathead by Archie Bunker on the 1970’s classic television sitcom, “All in the Family.” Now, Rob Reiner, after many years of being quite the prolific filmmaker with pictures such as A Few Good Men, The American President and The Bucket List, is going to be relaunching his production company with a vengeance. Castle Rock Entertainment will thankfully be putting quality films out once again thanks to the new allocated budget for upcoming movies.

Reiner will still be CEO of Castle Rock while Michele Reiner and Matthew George will be “co-presidents.” George had worked with Reiner before on the biographical film, LBJ. George also produced the Jeremy Renner/Elizabeth Olsen thriller film Wind River from 2017.

Warner Bros. will be working with Castle Rock to create theatrical projects for worldwide release. Castle Rock and Warner Bros. already have had a previous television deal. Their hit show “Seinfeld” remains one of the Castle Rock label’s most beloved T.V. successes of all-time. That show which starred Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of the biggest hits ever and is still winning new fans every day through re-runs.

With this new fund, projects can be created that will bring back memories of the great pictures the label once produced. Reiner first came on to the scene with Castle Rock back in the late 1980’s. It wasn’t long before the company was winning Oscars with Reiner’s own 1990 Stephen King book based film, Misery, scoring a Best Actress trophy for Kathy Bates back in 1991. Reiner was on a roll with so many hit movies throughout the years that scored Academy Award nominations. Among them was the legendary 1994 Oscar nominated film, The Shawshank Redemption.

Other hit Castle Rock films include the classics When Harry Met Sally, Clint Eastwood’s In The Line Of Fire and Tom Hanks’ The Green Mile.

The hilarious 1999 film The Muse showed Rob Reiner getting his inspiration from the mystical, jewelry loving title character in the movie who was played by Sharon Stone. Wherever he gets his inspiration from in real life, Reiner has always been one of the most unique, talented filmmakers in Hollywood. Let’s hope the rejuvenation of his production label brings many new quality films into view. We can’t wait to see the lineup of future films that will come from the Castle Rock label in the next few years!
