Ryan Reynolds Gets Some Tough Love from Hugh Jackman on SPIRITED Song Making Oscar’s Shortlist

Hugh Jackman Jokes About Ryan Reynolds’s Spirited Song

The song “Good Afternoon” from Ryan Reynolds‘ hit movie, Spirited, has made the Oscars shortlist but Hugh Jackman is teasing him by encouraging people not to “validate” Reynolds by honoring the song.

Hugh Jackman may be starring in the third installment of Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds but Jackman doesn’t want to hear about Reynolds’ song from, Spirited, getting an Academy Award nomination. Or does he? The hysterically funny song, “Good Afternoon,” from Apple TV’s terrific movie, Spirited has made the Oscar shortlist for Best Original Song. Jackman loved the movie and laughed really hard watching it but doesn’t want to see Reynolds get that song nod because he may never hear the end of it on the new Deadpool movie set.

Jackman has been slated to play Wolverine again and has just come off an award-worthy performance in the movie, The Son for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. Reynolds isn’t really a performer whose films get much award attention so Jackman is, in all probability, most likely joking in terms of his comments regarding “Good Afternoon” securing a nomination for Best Song. Jackman is known for his interesting sense of humor and it’s a testament to his working relationship with Reynolds that the two performers can joke around so well together. This bodes well for their chemistry on the set of the forthcoming third Deadpool picture.

Will Ferrell co-stars with Ryan Reynolds in the hit movie, Spirited, which enjoyed a nice run on Apple TV throughout the holidays as it ended up charming all kinds of audiences–young and old alike. The performance of “Good Afternoon” is one of the most humorous scenes in the picture as the greeting clearly seems to be an expression which is the equivalent to telling somebody something a lot less kind. “Good Afternoon” is a front, if you will, for telling somebody something a whole lot less nice. If you’ve seen the film, you know. Ferrell and Reynolds played this scene like gangbusters and the movie certainly deserves to yield an Oscar nod for the song.

Jackman’s powerful film, The Son, has faced a bit of a backlash from viewers because of the heavy nature of the themes it presents but received an excellent review from me nevertheless. It is a thoughtful movie that may still yield the star of the Broadway musical, The Music Man, an Oscar nomination. But, if “Good Afternoon” gets the Oscar nod for Best Original Song, and Jackman is snubbed, Reynolds may just have to lovingly tell Jackman, quite simply, “Good Afternoon” and the pair can proceed to rehearse their lines for the upcoming Deadpool film. Of course, this is all meant in the most fun way possible. And no matter what time you are reading this article, I’d love to jokingly end this article with, “Good Afternoon.” Spirited is a must-see movie if you haven’t seen it yet.
