SACRAMENTO: Kristen Stewart to Play Michael Cera’s Wife in Upcoming Comedy

Kristen Stewart Crimes Of The Future

Kristen Stewart Boards Road Trip Comedy

Kristen Stewart has joined the cast of Michael Angarano‘s light-hearted upcoming road picture titled, Sacramento.

Kristen Stewart is aging like fine wine. Her performances, though, have become very intense lately from her Oscar-nominated role in Spencer to her dramatic work in David Cronenberg’s solemn Crimes of the Future. Now, the actress is lightening things up a bit with a turn as funny man Michael Cera (Superbad)’s character’s wife in the forthcoming film, Sacramento, which is a road comedy.

Stewart made her big splash more than 20 years ago in the David Fincher film, Panic Room, but she is more widely known as the love interest from the Twilight films which were huge box-office hits. Sacramento will showcase the story of a man named Rickey (to be played by the director of the picture, Angarano) and his friend Glenn (the always reliable Cera) who take on a trip from L.A. to Sacramento. Maya Erskine will also co-star playing Rickey’s wife.

What makes Sacramento a very special project is the fact that Stewart is attached to it. Male buddy movies are sometimes a dime a dozen but this one seems like it could stand out significantly thanks to Stewart’s casting as Cera’s character’s wife. These two stars should be interesting together and the fact that Erskine will be in it as well has piqued many people’s curiosities.

This film will deal with the past, the present and the future as the characters in the picture have come to a crossroads in their lives and must confront their life choices. Nobody could play quirky characters like the cast of this picture can and the movie seems likely to move audiences and make them laugh out loud, possibly even at the same time.

Kristen Stewart received a coveted Oscar nod for her work as Princess Diana in the critically acclaimed Spencer. It was a tough year for actresses to get Oscar nominations for their work in 2021 and to Stewart’s credit, she got the nomination. A win may have been possible if Jessica Chastain had not been in the running for her incredible award-winning role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

While Stewart made light-hearted movies such as Adventureland earlier in her career, she has since carved out a very dramatic series of film roles in her filmography. Crimes of the Future from just last year was a bleak movie that didn’t please everybody but managed to be intriguing enough to get people to watch it anyway. Sacramento should be a welcome change of role-type for the actress.

Judging from her previous work, it seems like Stewart could be tailor-fit for her role in Sacramento which may just be a segue into the second half of Stewart’s already fabulous movie career.
