SCREAM 7 (2026): Courteney Cox Set to Return for New Sequel in Popular Slasher Movie Series

Courteney Cox Officially Added to Scream 7’s Cast List
It’s finally official that Courteney Cox will be returning for the seventh entry in a long-running horror franchise, Scream 7.
Pick your poison, Sidney Prescott or Gale Weathers. Either way, both characters will be returning in Scream 7 and are set to be played by the actresses who made these roles famous, Neve Campbell, and Courteney Cox, respectively. We don’t have a plot line for Scream 7 yet but we do know Kevin Williamson is set to direct his first entry in the series he created with his original Scream script back in 1996.
Courteney Cox is not happy that her ex-husband/former franchise co-star, David Arquette, was killed off in the last Scream picture, Scream VI. Cox of “Friends” fame is hoping the makers of Scream 7 can find a way to bring Arquettte’s character, Dewey, back into the mix but that looks like an improbability given that the character was murdered last time out. While Campbell sat the last entry out due to a salary dispute, she will be playing opposite Cox in Scream 7 and many fans of the series are ecstatic.
There will be some new blood added to the franchise with Mckenna Grace and Isabel May now on board Scream 7 as well. Meanwhile, Mason Gooding and Celeste O’Connor look to return to the series in addition. Isabel May will play Neve Campbell’s character’s daughter.
The Scream series lost two of its big recent stars along the way- Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera – and the latest project in the franchise has changed directors but hopes are still high that the new movie will override such obstacles and be a big hit at the box-office.
Cox is an actress who has so many fans that her not returning to the Scream series just wouldn’t make sense. With her and Campbell back in the action together again, it’s going to be absolutely great seeing them team up against whoever is going to be Ghostface in the new entry.
I am sure Williamson has some twists and turns up his sleeve that will be revealed when the new “scream”fest opens on February 27, 2026. Scream 7 hopes to make this series a billion dollar baby and if it earns $100 million worldwide, Scream will become a billion dollar franchise. It’s uncertain where Scream 7 will take place. The last one set itself in New York City.
It should also be noted Williamson’s other big 1990’s-originating horror movie series, I Know What You Did Last Summer will have a re-imagining/requel coming out in 2025 to hold you guys over until Scream 7 though Williamson isn’t really tied to that project in a creative way.
