SCREAM 7: Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson Return to the Franchise Which Began Almost 30 Years Ago

Scream 7 Will Bring Back Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott

Scream 7 will reunite Kevin Williamson, the creator of the original film, with returning cast member Neve Campbell who sat the last film out.

Neve Campbell will replay her character, Sidney Prescott, from the earlier Scream films in the soon to be put into production, Scream 7. For various reasons, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera have sadly excited the franchise after the sixth film in the series which nevertheless stirred up some robust box-office dollars. Thanks to the success of that last film, the producers probably have the money they initially didn’t want to pay Neve Campbell to come back for Scream VI. Hopefully, they will pay Campbell a fair salary for her return in Scream 7. She’s more than deserving of it as fans of the series would attest to.

Campbell is definitely excited and thankful for the opportunity to come back to the series reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of these hugely enjoyable and (mostly) successful scary movies. A picture of the script was posted to social media which lists Kevin Williamson as the director.

Fans are glad Campbell didn’t hold a grudge against the franchise for not getting to appear in the sixth picture in the series due to financial reasons. Campbell, herself, is a huge fan of Williamson and says she looks forward to working with him on the set of the upcoming picture.

Scream VI was set in New York City and made $108 million at the domestic box-office and another $60 million internationally. There was no way the film’s studio would abandon the property and the arrival of Campbell and Williamson to the new project is a welcome “sigh” of relief.

While Ghostface, the killer who wears the mask in these movies, will most likely face off against Campbell in the upcoming production in one way or another, little else is known about the script details at the present time. Williamson had previously hoped to make a Scream picture where Campbell’s Sidney Prescott would fall in love and get married but we don’t know if that idea will be implemented in this next chapter of Scream at this present time.

Though Campbell’s presence in Scream 7 has been officially announced, the supporting cast is still something of a mystery at the present time. It would be hard to even speculate at this time what has been done to tweak the franchise after the departure of both Ortega and Barrera. One thing’s certain, though. Given Kevin Williamson’s horror movie pedigree that dates back almost 30 years, this upcoming sequel will likely be one of the most anticipated Scream pictures of all-time.
