SCREAM 8 (2027): Neve Campbell Confirms Her Involvement in Next Installment of Slasher Film

Neve Campbell Will Appear in Scream 8

Neve Campbell has let the cat out of the bag and let people know that Scream “queen,” Sidney Prescott, will once again be gracing the screen with her presence in the upcoming Scream 8.

Scream 7 proved to be a rather profitable sequel for Paramount and Spyglass, so it’s no surprise that another Scream film is said to be in the works. Even without preliminary casting choices or a director attached yet, it seems that series favorite, “Sidney,” will be returning once again to the franchise. Neve Campbell, the actress who plays her, has made it clear that she will, indeed, be in it.

A script for Scream 8 was supposedly finalized in early 2026. However, getting the cast and crew assembled for the new Scream movie is something that has not officially happened yet. Except, maybe, for Campbell’s character Sidney’s presence in the forthcoming film.

Hayden Panettiere recently passed away, and she was said to have the potential to return for Scream 8, although such details regarding her character’s return to the franchise have never been made official. Panettiere had wanted to be a part of it, and we’ll see if her character will make the final cut when the script goes to shoot before cameras. If her character from Scream 6 was to return, it would be interesting to see how the producers would handle it, whether that would consist of re-casting the role or using CGI to put Panettiere back into the proceedings.

Campbell officially returned to the franchise with a box-office hit, Scream 7, which received tepid reviews but still had fans turning out in droves to see it. While Campbell couldn’t reveal much about Scream 8 at the present time, she confrmed her involvement in it, which is a good sign that it will go before cameras soon enough.

Although Campbell was not in Scream VI, it made decent money at the box-office. Scream 7 was more profitable with Campbell’s presence, however. Scream 7 made about $13 million more than Scream VI did domestically, and 7 earned a lot more than expected overseas.

There are many theories on where the producers and the writers will take Scream 8 when it starts to go into production, which could be sometime early next year. Most of the concerns are regarding the additional casting choices, and characters, that will be integrated into the new horror film sequel.

Spyglass Media, the company that is producing the film, was reached out to by Deadline to see if there is further commentary on the state of Scream 8 and the return of Campbell in her famous role. It is sure that Campbell knows she is a part of it, but what other ingredients will compose the 8th entry in the slasher film series remain to be seen.
