SHAZAM (2019): Film May Be a Standalone Feature According to The Rock

Shazam

Dwayne Johnson Gives a Tweet Suggesting Shazam May Be a Standalone Film. There’s been some theories going around that Shazam will become its own film with no connection to the Justice League or the DC Cinematic Universe. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also seems to support this.

On Twitter, The Rock answered a tweet from a fan about the film saying how good Shazam will be, who will be playing villain Black Adam. Here’s what he wrote: “I guaran-damn-tee we’re gonna have a bad ass fun w/Black Adam. (Its a NL/DC property). #Independence See u at the junket homie.” The cryptic hashtag #Independence could speculate that Shazam may be separate from the DC film universe in regards to tone and story. New Line Cinema, who is financing the film with Warner Bros., will have a lot of control to handle the film as they see fit.

Even New Line President Toby Emmerich back in September said that the film was going to be different from the other DC films. “It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself. It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies.”

This could change in due time since the film doesn’t come out until 2019. But if we are reading this correctly, Shazam may be setting its own world. What do you guys think?
