TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM (2023): TMNT Reboot Secures a Release Date a Couple of Days Ahead of Schedule

TMNT Movie To Launch at the Beginning of August

Seth Rogen‘s eagerly awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will get a jump start at theaters on August 2 thanks to Paramount.

When The Super Mario Bros. Movie opened a couple of days early, it became one of the biggest box-office hits of 2023 so far, if not the biggest flat-out smash success of the year. A new poster for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem has revealed that Paramount is putting out this latest TMNT movie two days before it was originally slated in order to cash in on summer movie audiences’ ticket buying strategies.

Seth Rogen is certainly an accomplished funnyman but can the new TMNT movie (which Rogen co-wrote) be the type of hit that will have audiences lining up to see it? Paramount sure thinks so and it’s a vote of confidence that the studio shifted the TMNT film’s release date from August 4th to August 2nd.

Don’t worry, the new TMNT picture is chock full of star power to meet the wants of older summer moviegoers. Showcased in the new would-be box-office bonanza is going to be the voice-over talents of Rose Byrne, Post Malone, Ice Cube, Maya Rudolph, Jackie Chan (set to be heard as the voice of Master Splinter), Seth Rogen, John Cena (who will be voicing Rocksteady) and Paul Rudd, to name just a few. Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears have directed the new turtle picture.

When The Super Mario Bros. Movie opened on an early Wednesday in April, it resulted in excellent word of mouth that propelled that picture to phenomenal box-office grosses throughout its opening weekend and beyond. For the same situation to happen with the latest TMNT movie, the word of mouth will have to be as good as The Super Mario Bros Movie. Reviews are not necessarily a factor in whether or not people will turn out for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem but positive reviews would certainly help the situation.

It has been seven years since we saw Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael doing their thing on the big screen. Rogen (who’s also co-producing the computer animated picture)’s voice will be heard in the new upcoming picture as the character of Bebop.

A new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be revealed at the end of May. Kids have been waiting to see their pizza loving turtles back on the big screen or on the silver screen for the first time and will undoubtedly have their parents’ money ready to buy themselves tickets on August 2nd.

Could Raphael, Donatello and the boys secure an opening weekend of $100 million in domestic ticket sales? That probably won’t happen but, hey, $55 million could be in grasp for the five-day opening weekend. If that happens, it would be more than half of the total gross of 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
