Upcoming Animated Film Has Spinoff Series and Sequel Coming

The forthcoming box-office tentpole, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, has already launched a sequel and TV series which both are in the works.

Hold on to your seats. Barbenheimer may lose its crown to some pizza-loving ninja turtles come August 2nd. Paramount and Nickelodeon are so confident in their new film that they are already investing in a TV series and a sequel to the upcoming film. The aforementioned series will be a two-season long set of shows for none other than streamer Paramount Plus.

The TV series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will cast stars of the new movie which will be released on August 2nd. Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu and Brady Noon will do the voiceover work for Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. This show will have the turtles face individual adventures without their brothers by their sides at all times.

In the new animated movie, the turtles set out to be treated as regular teens in New York City. They face a significant hurdle when some mutants are set out to create havoc. April O’Neil will be by the turtles’ sides as usual. By now, most people know writer/producer/voice talent Seth Rogen is the brains behind this new showcase for the Ninja Turtles.

This is not going to be an easy home run for Rogen even though the quality of the movie is said to be very good. The last big screen outing for the Turtles was the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows which only mustered up $82 million domestically. Paramount could be hoping for the new film to make that much in its first five days. It will take great word of mouth and a great product to help this movie become the smash the studio is hoping for. It is all in reach if kids turn up at theaters in droves.

Seth Rogen is the man who starred in funny films like Knocked Up and Long Shot. His sense of humor is keen but not for everybody. Children, however, should easily “get” the type of humor he is putting into the new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

Many industry insiders are expecting Rogen’s inspired new Ninja Turtles picture to potentially dethrone Barbenheimer at the box-office but it’s not a sure thing until August 2nd arrives. Oppenheimer‘s long running time will certainly keep it from overcoming the turtles. These turtles’ worst enemy is probably Barbie. It will be “TMNT vs Barbie” at the box-office and all eyes are on those opening weekend grosses for Rogen’s new picture.
