THE GEMINI LOUNGE: Vertical Entertainment Picks Up Mob Drama Featuring Lucy Hale

Lucy Hale

The Gemini Lounge with Lucy Hale Gets Distributor

An upcoming mafia dramatic thriller starring Emile Hirsch, Lucy Hale and Ashley Greene, The Gemini Lounge, has been bought by Vertical Entertainment.

A 1960’s/1970’s crime family, The DeMeos, gets the central focus in a new movie called The Gemini Lounge. This film will feature almost everybody’s favorite of the original “Pretty Little Liars,” Lucy Hale in a high-profile role. Hale has been featured mostly in horror films like Truth or Dare or Fantasy Island but promises to make a significant impression in a dramatic role in this upcoming movie. That’s good because Truth or Dare earned a not-so-great CinemaScore grade of “B-” while Fantasy Island fared even worse with a “C-.”

The rest of the cast of The Gemini Lounge is not to be overlooked. Not one but two of the stars of last year’s The Immaculate Room will be showcased in the movie: Emile Hirsch and Ashley Greene. The director of The Gemini Lounge, Danny A. Abeckaser, will also have a big part in the new picture, playing the head of the DeMeo crime family, Roy. This upcoming film will revolve around an undercover detective (Hirsch) looking to infiltrate the DeMeo family after he discovers his wife (Greene) having an affair which causes her to leave him.

Where does that leave Hale? At this point, her role looks pretty intriguing and glamorous as she wears a coat straight out of the time period the movie is set in a fascinating photo featured on IMDB.

Vertical Entertainment has a history of releasing very good to excellent films. In 2021, they put out the greatly suspenseful Casey Affleck thriller, Every Breath You Take and in 2022, they released Katie Holmes’ pandemic drama, Alone Together. The studio also put out The Hating Game (also starring Hale) and another mob movie as well called Lansky. Just last week, the studio put out Maybe I Do, the funny comedy starring Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton and Richard Gere.

While Vertical Entertainment has had no shortage of highly prestigious casts attached to its recent projects, it hasn’t had a lot of box-office hits quite yet. Instead, the company often offers its films in theaters selectively and exclusively shortly before premiering them on paid streaming sites. While The Gemini Lounge is most likely going to premiere in theaters and on demand later this year, it may be more comfortable as a streaming title but with the attached cast, it is likely that The Gemini Lounge will pick up a lot of traction as a title with stars like Hirsch and Hale attached to the project.

Lucy Hale’s fans can’t be more excited at the prospect of seeing the star play a principal role in the type of mob movie that is comparable to the successful, Capone.
