THUNDERBOLTS* (2025): Speculations Have Started Arising Regarding the Actual Running Time for New Marvel Film
The Thunderbolts* Running Time Has Possibly Been Revealed
As it gets closer to the release date of Marvel‘s new antihero film, Thunderbolts*, potential running times for the eagerly anticipated project have been revealed.
When Thunderbolts* opens on May 2nd, audiences will most likely be happy to see some of their favorite everyday heroes on board the ensemble of characters featured in the picture. Regal Cinemas has started to list the film in their upcoming schedules and have listed a running time of 126-minutes for the action extravaganza. However, could that information be definitively accurate given that we are still over a month away from the film’s actual release date?
Let it be noted that Odeon has released a length of two hours and twenty minutes for Thunderbolts* which makes the discrepancy between the two reported running times a topic of interest for Marvel fans who are trying to predict the actual quality of the upcoming project.
Regardless of the movie’s actual running time, the marketing campaign for Thunderbolts* has certainly become an inspired one. After Deadpool & Wolverine racked up some serious box-office dollars last summer, Thunderbolts* has followed some of the successful strategies that the film employed. Deadpool & Wolverine played tracks in the background such as ones by Madonna and the Goo Goo Dolls like gangbusters. The most interesting Thunderbolts* trailers have showcased the old song by Starship, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” That music emphasizes the movie’s themes of teamwork and perseverance which are likely to be in the movie.
Also of note in the Thunderbolts* campaign is the comparison of the picture to A24 movies. Because stars of Thunderbolts* like Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan have made A24 pictures in the past, Marvel is linking this new project to the popular movie studio that A24 has become. Florence Pugh, arguably the most popular star of Thunderbolts*, has appeared in A24 movies Midsommar and We Live in Time. Stan appeared in the acclaimed A24 movie from last year, A Different Man, which won countless accolades across the board. Marvel films don’t necessarily appeal to art house movie fans, but this one may due to the strategies that are being employed to market Thunderbolts*.
Still, regardless of the real running time of Thunderbolts*, its release date bodes well for a successful theatrical run for the picture. It will get a jump start on the summer movie season which could spell lucrative numbers for the very unique project that the picture has become. A two-hour and six-minute running time would actually be ideal because its neither too short, nor too long, especially considering Marvel movies must be sat through until the very end to see the after-credits scenes that always come right after the names end.
