TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS (2023): Michelle Yeoh Comes on Board Upcoming Science Fiction Extravaganza

Oscar Nominee Hopeful Michelle Yeoh Cast in Transformers Film

Michelle Yeoh has been cast in the upcoming big budget science fiction film, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

It’s been a good year for A24 films. Two stars of two different, but almost equally great, A24 movies of this year have joined the cast of the highly anticipated, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. One of these performers is the always entertaining Pete Davidson who was so superb in the horror movie hit from this past summer, Bodies Bodies Bodies. However, it is Michelle Yeoh from Everything Everywhere All at Once who has science fiction fans very excited at the prospect of how good this forthcoming epic film could be given her presence in it.

All bets are off as to whether or not Michelle Yeoh will get an Oscar nomination for the box-office hit from earlier this year, Everything Everywhere All at Once. It pretty much seems like a done deal at this point in time. It was, perhaps, the role of her career.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be set in the 1990’s and will show audiences some serious robot action that should result in one of the more artistically proficient recent Transformers films. With a New York setting for some of the action in the new picture, the other main cast members of the upcoming epic adventure film are Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback. This movie is set to be unveiled in theaters on June 9, 2023, although release dates are, as past experience has proven, sometimes subject to change.

Yeoh is no stranger to action films with one of her biggest movies of all-time being the Oscar-nominated 2000 film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In that picture, she appeared opposite the legendary star, Chow Yun-Fat. That movie made $128 million at the domestic box-office and solidified Yeoh’s stardom which was recently even further cemented by her success in her multi-faceted role in the brilliant Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Pete Davidson won a lot of praise as an actor when he appeared in the 2020 dramatic film, The King of Staten Island which co-starred Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei. In Bodies Bodies Bodies, his role held the key to all of that movie’s secrets and Davidson was absolutely terrific in it. His personality will be a wonderful addition to the Transformers franchise.

The hype surrounding Transformers films had died down a bit before 2018’s Bumblebee proved to be a rather nifty picture in and of itself. That movie won much critical acclaim, and many expect Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to be an even bigger box-office hit as well as an artistically successful endeavor. With the presence of Pete Davidson and, especially, the incomparable Michelle Yeoh, look for this upcoming picture to heat up the box-office next year.
