Legends of Tomorrow, Titans, Picard Star Trek, and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. The Lost Boys (The CW)

Sarah Hayh as been cast as Mollie. “Turned into a vampire by David, Mollie has become her maker’s rival for leadership of the vampire gang. She travels in a small pack with her eternally 8-year-old son, Laddie, and a guardian, Hiram, who’s there to make sure she doesn’t get into too much trouble.”

Cheyenne Haynes as been cast as Liza Frog. Haley Tju as been cast as Cassie Frog. “Sharp, cool and lightly Goth, the Frog Sisters are teenage locals who work at Santa Carla’s comic-book store. Until Sam arrives, they think they’re the only ones aware of the darkness in this town.”

These actresses join already cast: Tyler Posey, Kiele Sanchez, Medalion Rahimi, and Dakota Shapiro.

The Lost Boys‘ plot synopsis: based on the 1987 film directed by Joel Schumacher, “Still mourning the death of her husband, Lucy (Sanchez) is forced to move back home to Santa Carla — something she’s dreaded since causing a town scandal 27 years ago, when she ditched her boyfriend to run off with another man.

Lucy’s elder son Michael’s plan to attend Columbia Medical school is thrown off by the diagnosis that he shares the same genetic weakness that killed his father. The only thing that consoles him is the friendship he strikes up with Stella, a young woman who runs a concession stand on the Santa Carla boardwalk.

Stella, carefree and Californian, has an immediate spark with Michael, but she’s not single: Her boyfriend is the sexy, dangerous and immortal vampire David, who is sometimes scary and always intense. The leader of a vampire gang, he’s wildly in love with Stella, who’s the only one who can control him.”

Heather Mitchell wrote the screenplay for the Catherine Hardwicke-directed pilot episode.

Prism (NBC)

Chloe Wepper has been cast as Sophie Regen, “a recent law school graduate who worships Rachel.”

David Alpay has been cast as Jay Kershaw, “a therapist who’s kind of messed up.”

Brooke Smith has been cast as Bec Jamison, “the hard-living and tough mother of the accused.”

This actor and actresses joins already cast Ramon Rodriguez, Malin Akerman, and Mykelti Williamson.

Prism‘s plot synopsis: “Prism is described as a provocative exploration of a murder trial in which every episode is told through the perspective of a different key person involved. Each new version of the facts ratchets up the mystery and the suspense, calling into question everything we have seen so far and asking, Is the right person on trial? Driven by an ensemble of complicated characters, the show lets the audience ask if truth matters less than who can tell the most compelling story.”

Daniel Barnz will write and direct the series.

The Twilight Zone (CBS All Access)

Seth Rogen has been cast in unspecified role.

The Many Saints of Newark (HBO)

Ray Liotta has been cast in unspecified role.

This actor joins already cast: Michael Gandolfini, Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Billy Magnussen, and Corey Stoll.

The Many Saints of Newark‘s plot synopsis: “The story focuses on Dickie Moltisanti (Nivola), a mentor to young Tony as his own father, Johnny Boy, was grooming his son a pathway to organized crime prominence…Set during the ’60s Newark riots, when “African Americans and Italians of that city were at each others throats. It was especially lethal among gangsters from each group.”

David Chase, Lawrence Konner, and Alan Taylor wrote the screenplay for the film. Alan Taylor is directing the film.

Titans (DC Universe)

Joshua Orpin has been cast as Conner Kent a.k.a. Superboy, an “angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans, where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.”

Legends of Tomorrow (The CW)

Jes Macallan‘s Ava Sharpe has been upped to a series regular on the TV series. “Macallan…was promoted to a series regular at the start of Season 4 with a one-year deal. She has now been extended with another one-year pact.”

Animal Kingdom (TNT)

Sohvi Rodriguez has been upped to a series regular on the TV series.

She joins already cast Emily Deschanel in the upcoming season.

Tales From the Loop (Amazon Prime)

Rebecca Hall has been cast as Loretta, “a gifted physicist.’

Tales from the Loop‘s plot synopsis: based on the sci-fi art of Simon Stålenhag, “Tales from the Loop explores the town and people who live above “The Loop,” a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe – making things possible that were previously relegated only to science fiction. In this fantastical, mysterious town, poignant human tales are told that bare universal emotional experiences while drawing on the intrigue of genre storytelling.”

Nathaniel Halpern wrote the screenplays for Mark Romanek-directed TV series.

neXT (Fox)

Eve Harlow has been cast as Gina. “Easy to offend, a bit of a nerd and ultra woke, she works at the FBI cybercrime division.”

neXT’s plot synopsis: “neXt is described as a propulsive, fact-based thriller grounded in the latest A.I. research. It features a brilliant but paranoid former tech CEO who joins a Homeland Cybersecurity Agent and her team to stop the world’s first artificial intelligence crisis: the emergence of a rogue AI with the ability to continuously improve itself. Marrying pulse-pounding action with a layered examination of how technology is invading our lives and transforming us in ways we don’t yet understand, the series also presents us with a villain like we’ve never seen before, one whose greatest weapon against us is ourselves.”

Manny Coto wrote the screenplays for the Glenn Ficarra-directed series.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (Showtime)

LOS ANGELES – February 26, 2019 – SHOWTIME has announced that Tony and Emmy winner Nathan Lane (The Producers) has joined PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS, the next chapter of the PENNY DREADFULsaga, in the role of Lewis Michener. A veteran officer in the LAPD, wise to the ways of the world and ruthless in pursuit of his goals, Lewis becomes the partner and mentor of young Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto). The series also stars Natalie Dormer, Jessica Garza and Johnathan Nieves. Tony and Golden Globe® award winner and three-time Oscar® nomineeJohn Logan, the creator, writer and executive producer of the Emmy nominated series PENNY DREADFUL, continues in thosesame roles. Michael Aguilar (KIDDING) also serves as executive producer. Production on the drama series is expected to begin later this year.

Lane is a three-time Tony Award winner for his performances in Angels in America, The Producers and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He also received Tony nominations for The Front Page, The Nance and Guys and Dolls. In 2008, he was inducted into the American Theater Hall Of Fame. Lane has received six Primetime Emmy nominations for his work on Modern Family, The Good Wife, Mad About You and Frasier, as well as Golden Globe nominations for The Producers and The Birdcage. He will next be seen on Broadway in Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus. Lane’s credits in film and television include American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, Ironweed, Frankie and Johnny, MouseHunt, Jeffrey and Nicholas Nickleby, and standout voice performances in The Lion King and Stuart Little. Lane’s voiceover work has also earned him two Daytime Emmy Awards.

A spiritual descendant of the original PENNY DREADFUL story set in Victorian-era London, PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS opens in 1938 Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension. When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega is embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Before long, Tiago and his family are grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart. PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS explores an exciting mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of the period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a genuine historical backdrop. PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS is executive produced by John Logan and Michael Aguilar, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road), both of Neal Street Productions. Logan’s Desert Wolf Productions will produce, and James Bagley will serve as co-executive producer. Paco Cabezas (The Alienist) is set to direct multiple episodes.

Cursed (Netflix)

Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgård, Peter Mullan, Lily Newmark, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Daniel Sharman, Sebastian Armesto, Emily Coates, Catherine Walker, and Billy Jenkins have all been cast in unspecified roles.

These actors and actresses join already cast Katherine Langford.

Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller who wrote the book the film is based on, will also be writing the screenplay for the film adaptation. Zetna Fuentes is directing the first two episodes.

Emergence (NBC)

Owain Yeoman has been cast as Benny, “an investigative reporter for Reuters.”

Emergence‘s plot synopsis: “Emergence is a character-driven genre thriller that centers on Jo (Tolman), a police chief who takes in a young child, Piper (Swinton), she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.”

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters wrote the screenplay for the Paul McGuigan-directed pilot episode.

This actor joins already cast Allison Tolman, Alexa Skye Swinton, Robert Bailey Jr., Clancy Brown, and Ashley Aufderheide.

Jean-Luc Picard Star Trek Series (CBS All Access)

Santiago Cabrera has been cast as “the pilot of Picard’s ship who also is a skillful thief.”

Michelle Hurd has been cast as “a former intelligence officer who is a brilliant analyst with a terrific memory that has not been affected by her drug and alcohol abuse.”

This actor and actress join already cast Patrick Stewart.
