WILD HORSE NINE: Parker Posey Cast in Martin McDonagh’s Upcoming Movie From Searchlight

Former Indie Queen Joins Martin McDonagh Film
A one-time indie movie star of great proportions, Parker Posey, is joining the high-profile cast of Martin McDonagh‘s next project titled, Wild Horse Nine.
Parker Posey of The House of Yes and Beau is Afraid has come on board the star-studded upcoming Martin McDonagh (The Banshees on Inisherin) film titled Wild Horse Nine. Other big names attached to McDonagh’s movie include Sam Rockwell who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for McDonagh’s own Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Also on board this movie will be the legendary John Malkovich and Oscar nominee for Poor Things, Mark Ruffalo.
McDonagh’s aforementioned upcoming film will be released by Searchlight which did well with the filmmaker’s Oscar-nominated gem, The Banshees of Inisherin, in 2022. This newest picture will be beginning production in March on Rapa Nui, a remote island — the most remote one on Earth.
Posey has been doing a lot of work these days in both television and film and has never been known as the type of actress who likes to rest on her laurels. In the past couple of years, you’ve seen her in modest movies like Thelma and Ari Aster’s mind trip, Beau is Afraid. Posey is most known for her starring role in 1997’s The House of Yes, a Mark Waters film where she played a variation on Jackie-O. Posey had a supporting role in 1998’s rom com, You’ve Got Mail.
Rockwell has always been a star in his own right even before he won the Oscar. In 2000, he co-starred in the Charlie’s Angels reboot which featured talk show host Drew Barrymore. Rockwell portrayed a dad in 2014’s finely tuned comedy, Laggies. John Malkovich is mainly known for his villain roles in movies like Clint Eastwood’s 1993 masterpiece, In the Line of Fire although he’s played many different parts throughout the years. Mark Ruffalo is known for his work as the Hulk in Avengers movies and for playing opposite Jennifer Garner in 2004’s comedy, 13 Going on 30.
Parker Posey has always fluctuated between TV and movies. She’s done different types of films like Sundance entries starting way back in the 1990’s and, in addition, she’s made a few minor Hollywood blockbusters along the way. There’s not many types of roles in the film industry that haven’t piqued the curiosity of the always commanding Posey.
Oscar Isaac and Christopher Walken were once tied to roles in Wild Horse Nine but they are seemingly no longer affiliated with the main production aspects of the particular movie. While it remains to be seen if the fine character actress, Posey, will have a really juicy part in McDonagh’s new picture, this could be the movie to win the high-profile director an accolade or two when it is released. Posey is a delightful and competent actress and will be a welcome addition to the project.
