According to Variety, Universal is currently working on finding the perfect director for the film, having been meeting with several directors over the past month. As for the script, it has already been written by Orange is the New Black writers Lauren Schuker and Rebecca Angelo, and is based on the original pitch given by Ryan Gosling. The studio has high hopes for this project following the success that “The Invisible Man” starring Elizabeth Moss, had when relaunching Universal’s monster universe, which earned $122 million at the box office, and only took $7 million to make.

Though it is still unknown what the plot of the film will be, it is believed that it will be a more modern take on the iconic creature set in present times. Gosling pitched the  idea for the new take on ‘Wolfman’ but he has yet to officially sign on as the lead role. The coronavirus pandemic has pushed back several productions which is making scheduling for actors and crews complicated. ‘Wolfman’ still needs a set production date and director,  but it might interfere with Gosling’s current shooting schedule. Gosling is next set to star in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s untitled astronaut movie.
