The Mummy Trailer 3

The third movie trailer for The Mummy (2017) has been released by Universal Pictures. The curse of Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) is front and center in this trailer. It wasn’t really made clear how Morton survived the plane crash in the previous trailers for The Mummy except the vague mention of a curse. In this trailer, the implications of the curse are presented to the viewer.

The curse seems to have made Morton unusually strong and resilient (i.e. against mortal death), at least against Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella). At one moment in this trailer, Morton’s abilities seem to surprise even Ahmanet. The Ahmanet / Morton scenes may be the best in The Mummy besides the film’s expensive stunts scenes.

This trailer contains many new scenes from the Alex Kurtzman directed film, including city destruction moments and a SUV crash that is very VFX and comical. The Mummy is riding the line between quasi-horror, drama, and light-hearted moments.

The Mummy‘s plot synopsis: “Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

The Mummy also stars Courtney B. Vance, Javier Botet, Marwan Kenzari, Shina Shihoko Nagai, Annabelle Wallis, Russell Crowe, Solomon Taiwo Justified, Jason Matthewson, Noof McEwan, Selva Rasalingam, Dylan Smith, Tyrone Love, and Jake Johnson.
