BAD BOYS 4: Will Smith and Martin Lawrence Confirm That There Will Be a Fourth Film in the BAD BOYS Franchise

Will Smith Martin Lawrence Bad Boys For Life

Bad Boys 4 is Announced on Instagram by Film’s Stars

Bad Boys 4 has been given a “go” and the announcement was made by the film’s lead actors, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, on Instagram.

In 2020 right before the pandemic, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith tore up the silver screen in a giant smash hit, Bad Boys for Life. A lot has happened since then. There was a pandemic almost immediately after the third film in the franchise ended its theatrical run and, just last year, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on television during the Academy Awards ceremony. Did I mention that Smith also won the Oscar for Best Actor for King Richard? So, yeah, a lot has been going on. Now, we can add a fourth Bad Boys movie to the mix.

In an Instagram video, Smith and Lawrence let people know that the fourth picture in the series will actually be happening. Smith had declared that it is, indeed, “official.” While the Bad Boys movies’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer had hinted this was going to happen, some people didn’t believe Hollywood was ready to take another big risk on Smith so soon after the Chris Rock slap. It seems that the incident that occurred at the Oscars could be water under the bridge judging from Smith’s and Lawrence’s positive energy on the Instagram video.

Another movie with Smith was released on Apple TV Plus last December called Emancipation which proved that Smith is still a force to be reckoned with as an actor. Smith takes his work seriously and many people seemed to underestimate his ability to jump back into his game so soon after the notorious Oscars “slap.” Although Emancipation wasn’t a huge critical success, the reviews that were positive focused largely on the quality of Smith’s performance in the picture.

Although the first Bad Boys movie in 1995 made a mere $65 million at the domestic box-office, the 2003 release, Bad Boys II, made over $138 million domestically. The 2020 third picture in the series grossed an astonishing $206 million domestically and another $220 million internationally. Could the fourth movie in the franchise do even better? That’s a question that Smith’s fans will have to answer.

Hopefully, people who were holding on to a grudge against Smith will forget what he did at the Academy Awards and focus on the actor’s versatile talent. If people can overlook everything that happened and embrace Smith’s ability to take on all types of film roles, Bad Boys 4 could be another huge smash hit. Time will tell how it will do at the box-office. While you’re waiting for the latest Bad Boys, catch Smith in Emancipation on Apple TV Plus.
