Martin Lawrence States That There Will, Indeed, Be Another BAD BOYS Film

Another Bad Boys Movie Will Be on the Horizon

Martin Lawrence has suggested that there will be another movie in the Bad Boys franchise despite the controversy surrounding Will Smith.

A fourth installment of Bad Boys will be made, according to one of its big stars, Martin Lawrence who revealed this information in a recent Ebony interview. This news comes as no surprise being that the last film in the franchise, Bad Boys For Life, earned an astonishingly good $206 million at the domestic box-office. However, some people doubted that it would really be happening after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars this past March.

Lawrence, himself, believes that Smith is a good person who just had a bad moment. There were speculations that the slap, when it happened, pushed plans for a fourth Bad Boys movie off of the slate. Lawrence suggests that the project is still in development, however, and was never officially on the slate but it will be forthcoming.

Will Smith won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his great performance in King Richard at this year’s Oscar ceremony. He won the award after slapping Rock, though. Smith didn’t apologize to Rock on the telecast although he later did, indeed, say he was sorry for his actions. Smith spoke about how artists can be pushed to the breaking point during his acceptance speech and also made it clear that he was feeling a lot of emotions about what he did that night through the heartfelt teary-eyed speech he delivered.

While Lawrence was hopeful about another sequel to Bad Boys coming out, the actuality of a future sequel being made would certainly be optimistic just by looking at the box-office numbers of the last film in the series from 2020. Even if a few people didn’t show up for Smith, the movie would still do significantly well with the action crowd who is much less fussy when it comes to a person’s checkered past than say art house audiences. Mel Gibson returned to action films after his own real-life difficulties to a certain level of success and, Smith, should still have a lot of appeal to his fans despite his actions at the Oscars. Some people have forgotten the event altogether as the months have passed.

Since Smith has been banned from the Academy Awards for ten years, he may not win an Oscar for another Bad Boys sequel but that was unlikely to happen anyway. Instead, we’ll be likely to see another big box-office hit under Smith’s belt when the fourth installment happens which will prove that Smith and Lawrence still have what it takes to roll with the big boys at the box-office.
