Michael Keaton is Happy with Forthcoming Sequel to Beetlejuice

The upcoming sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is receiving praise from star Michael Keaton who thinks it worked out rather well.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is about six months from its theatrical release and isn’t officially wrapped up in the editing room quite yet. However, the long-awaited reunion of the stars and director of 1988’s Beetlejuice is getting accolades from actor, Michael Keaton, who played the title role of the first film from the late 1980’s and reprises his role in the sequel.

While there are some old cast members (Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara) as well as some new ones like Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe attached to the project, it seems like the sequel is poised to be a big financial success in theaters when it is unveiled to the public on September 6, 2024.

In fact, Keaton and director Tim Burton went back and forth over the years in terms of truly wanting to make a sequel to Beetlejuice. Keaton thinks from what he has seen of the new picture, it’s “great.” It just needs a few tweaks and then it will be ready for public view and Keaton seems excited at that prospect.

Keaton had wonderful things to say about co-star, Catherine O’Hara, who is playing Delia Deetz in the new picture. Keaton believes if you thought O’Hara was funny the first time out in the original, “double that” to get an idea of what the new film is going to be like in terms of the great O’Hara’s performance.

A co-star of the sequel, Dafoe, is certainly in his element playing another oddball role so soon after portraying the wild doctor in the Oscar-nominated, Poor Things. Poor Dafoe may have, himself, been snubbed by the Academy for his tremendous acting in Poor Things but he should have a big hit to put on his distinguished resume with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. His character’s name in the sequel has not been revealed on IMDB, yet.

Bellucci is serving as Beetlejuice’s wife in the new picture, according to IMDB. Meanwhile, the other star of the original, Winona Ryder, will once again play Lydia Deetz. Keaton singled out Theroux’s work and O’Hara’s, as previously stated, in terms of their performances in the new sequel.

Keaton has gone as far as to call the sequel “beautiful.” Jenna Ortega (Scream) is seemingly the central star in the new follow-up movie which Keaton believed was fun to work on and, the end results, were well worth the effort. Expect Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to earn north of $100 million at the box-office when it is released in September. Perhaps, that number could make up its first weekend box-office take alone, judging from the overwhelmed fans who have been waiting decades for this movie to be made and come out. “Shake your body in line” this September and buy a ticket.
