Actors from Previous Beverly Hills Cop Films Will Return for Sequel

Several character actors from the previous Beverly Hills Cop movies will be coming back for the upcoming Netflix sequel, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.

When Beverly Hills Cop came out in 1984, there were some funny scenes that showcased supporting actors that shone besides star Eddie Murphy. Several of them are returning for the new Netflix fourth installment of the franchise called Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Fans of the original movies couldn’t be more excited as this news brings back fond memories of the original films.

If you remember one such hysterical character, it was Bronson Pinchot (After Hours)’s quirky art salesperson, Serge. But, of course, the most memorable characters of the supporting players were Judge Reinhold (Vice Versa)’s Detective Billy Rosewood and John Ashton (Some Kind of Wonderful)’s Sergeant Taggart. Fans of the first Beverly Hills Cop film will most fondly remember the scene when Axel Foley got bananas and put them in Rosewood and Taggart’s car tailpipe to stop them from following him. Let’s not forget Paul Reiser (“Mad About You”)’s Detective Jeffrey Friedman who was Axel’s partner. The aforementioned actors will all be showcased in the new forthcoming Netflix picture.

Bronson Pinchot is a tremendously funny, and talented actor who is best known for his role on the old 1980’s T.V. show, Perfect Strangers. His ability to fit into eccentric roles is very commendable and he will be a welcome returning addition to the new movie’s cast. He also had a couple of scenes as a boring character in the great 1985 film After Hours.

John Ashton also played the dad of Eric Stoltz’s character in the hugely popular, much adored 1980’s teenage love story, Some Kind of Wonderful. Ashton was absolutely perfect in the earlier Beverly Hills Cop films although he sat the third movie in the franchise out. It will be nice to see the character actor returning for a last hurrah.

Judge Reinhold is probably the biggest star of the bunch of returning performers since he starred in the hit Fred Savage 1988 body switching comedy, Vice Versa. Reinhold has worked steadily over the years and also appeared in the vastly underrated Kevin Costner film from 2008, Swing Vote.

Paul Reiser is known for his work in the 1995 comedy movie, Bye Bye Love as well as for his most popular role on the hit comedy T.V. show, “Mad About You.”

To see all these character actors reuniting with Eddie Murphy for the new Netflix movie will hopefully be a great, nostalgic time for all. There are also some new performers in the series such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige so keep your eyes open for this one on Netflix when it eventually comes out.
