Zach Braff To Star In a Moving Dramatic Film

Almost everyone’s favorite “scrub,” Zach Braff, is coming back to the big screen with a part in front of the camera as opposed to behind it in Clean Hands.

After the success of directing 2023’s A Good Person, Zach Braff is returning to film acting with a role opposite Esther McGregor in the upcoming drama, Clean Hands. This new film, to be directed by Jake Allyn, will showcase Braff in a powerful role as a cop named Kevin Simmers who must tend to his daughter, Brooke’s drug habit and he, eventually, leaves his job to focus on becoming a recovery specialist.

Though filming is set to start in either April or May on this new project, it must be said that Clean Hands is a true labor of love for Braff whose nicely reviewed, heavily dramatic movie, A Good Person, focused on opioid addiction. This new role for Braff is a great part for the acclaimed performer to strut his talents as an actor. He has put those exquisite talents to the test in previous movies like Garden State and Moonshot.

Set in Maryland, Clean Hands will undoubtedly focus on how Brooke’s House, a female addiction recovery home, came to be. Esther McGregor will take on the challenging role of Brooke, herself. She is the real-life daughter of Moulin Rouge! star, Ewan McGregor.

Braff knows addiction stories well if his authentic behind-the-camera work on A Good Person is any indication and, although Braff isn’t directing Clean Hands, expect Braff’s input to be helpful to Allyn as Braff is carrying years of experience making serious films about real-life issues. Esther McGregor acted in two art house, Oscar bait movies, The Room Next Door and Babygirl, according to Deadline, but expect this new role to be much more substantial for the up-and-coming dramatic actress.

Since Braff is a very versatile actor, he flourishes in comedy just as much as he does starring in dramatic films. He made Moonshot, Garden State and French Girl, all of which had some laughter in them amidst the seriousness. The director of Clean Hands, Jake Allyn, starred in Someone Like You, a barely released love story that audiences really liked due to its deeply affecting drama scenes.

Zach Braff and Esther McGregor’s casting in the new project is simply inspired and this upcoming film should prove to be very moving to watch as these two stars set out to play their characters with a lot of emotional depth. Braff is finally back acting in a serious dramatic film which is a genre where he thrives thanks to his determined personality and fine acting skills.
