COYOTE UGLY 2: Piper Perabo Announces that a Sequel to 2000’s Hit Movie Will Not Be Happening in a Traditional Sense

Piper Perabo Says Coyote Ugly 2 is a No-Go (For Now)

Piper Perabo has declared that a sequel to the 2000 box-office hit, Coyote Ugly, is not happening at the present time.

When a bunch of up-and-coming female actresses played bartenders in a Jerry Bruckheimer production from 2000, Coyote Ugly, the result was a definite box-office hit. Coyote Ugly made an astonishing $60 million domestically and another $53 million internationally. With a terrific LeAnn Rimes song on its soundtrack, Coyote Ugly earned a great “A-” CinemaScore grade as well. However, the original movie’s star has revealed that a long-awaited sequel to the 2000 movie will not be happening in a traditional sense.

Tyra Banks, another one of the original film’s stars, could have knowledge of an alternate idea which could take flight one day but we don’t know, exactly, what that concept is as of yet. It may be a better idea than a direct sequel to Coyote Ugly where the actresses have aged a little bit. Still, who wouldn’t love to see Piper Perabo, Tyra Banks and co. dance on a bar even at their older ages? If you look at the cast, most of the actresses haven’t really aged all that much in terms of their glamorous looks!

John Goodman played Perabo’s dad in the 2000 movie. He is still working today making the hit show, “The Conners” which has definitely carried on the momentum of a show that Roseanne Barr (and Goodman) originated. Goodman had a fantastic time in the original movie so it’s sad we won’t see him reprising his role from the 2000 picture. But, anything’s possible since we don’t know what the alternate plan is as of the present time.

Coyote Ugly was the story of a singer-songwriter (Perabo) who came to New York City to make her dreams come true but had to take a job at a popular bar in order to help make ends meet. It was a very relatable and entertaining tale that held the audience’s attention thanks to the bar scenes and the movie’s great soundtrack. Perabo was perfectly cast in the role and has never had as great a film role to date even in the passing of almost 23 years of time.

Tyra Banks had teased the idea of getting the girls from Coyote Ugly together again. The “Dancing with the Stars” host is in the prime of her career right now hosting the popular reality show and was absolutely fun in the film from 2000 in which she played opposite Perabo.

Whatever the future of any Coyote Ugly projects, you can bet fans will fondly remember the original 2000 picture and would almost certainly turn up for any type of reunion project that may come about in the not-too-distant future.
